Adedayo Ojo (Dayo) is a Corporate Communication Specialist, Public Relations veteran, author and entrepreneur. He is the founder & Chief Executive of Caritas Group – comprising Caritas Communications, Caritas PR & Caritas Digital Media – all focused on diverse aspects of corporate communication, media and public relations.
He is also the Chairman of Orpheus Communications Ltd, owners of Lagos City FM 105.1. In addition, Dayo is an energy, oil & gas crisis communication specialist and an active player in the energy sector as a Director of Proxima Energy Limited.
Dayo is the author of the book ‘Public Relations: Thoughts & Deeds’. With over 30 years in the media, public relations, energy, oil & gas industry, Dayo’s experience in corporate communication, issues, crisis and relationship management is diverse, varied and unique.
Prior to Caritas Communications, Dayo was with ExxonMobil’s Nigerian affiliate, Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), as a Senior Corporate Executive in charge of Government, Public Affairs & Business Relations and Head of Abuja Office. Dayo was responsible for setting up Nigeria’s first fully fledged Government Relations department by a multinational oil & gas company (ExxonMobil – 1996); and in 2006, he set up the Corporate Relations department of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc where he was a Vice President.
As CEO of Caritas, Dayo has consulted on multi-country World Bank projects and widely on oil & gas and telecommunication issues across the spectrum for indigenous companies, international companies, and governments.
While at ExxonMobil, he was the coordinator and lead responder for emergency and crisis communication for the African upstream operations of ExxonMobil covering Angola, Cameroon, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, and Nigeria. Between 2000 and 2002, Dayo was Public Affairs Advisor at the headquarters of ExxonMobil Corporation in Houston, Texas, USA. He was the first African Public Relations professional in that position.
Dayo is a graduate of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). He also holds a Master of Arts Degree in Communication Arts from the University of Ibadan as well as a Diploma in Public Relations from Public Relations School, London. Dayo is an alumnus of both the Senior Management Program at the Ross Business School, University of Michigan, Detroit, United States and the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria.
As a journalist in the mid-80’s, Dayo was the Pioneer Secretary of the Commonwealth Journalists’ Association in Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants; a member of the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria, (PRCAN), and an Associate of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).
